Máncora: the most famous beach in Peru

When I arrived in Peru at the end of March, I didn't have an itinerary too defined. It came from Arica, in northern Chile, and the first natural stop was Arequipa, but I knew Cuzco and Puno - with Machu Picchu and Titicaca - so, after Arequipa the route was completely open.

To get from Huaraz the road is quite long.

I dedicated myself to drinking juices, eating in the beach bars, reading, listening to music, swimming and another strange activity that has been very common on this trip: meeting by chance with other travelers. There I met up with Thomas and Myriam, two French friends that I met in Mendoza while we were spending a few days with common friends. With them I traveled 17 days in Ecuador and spent many adventures together. Very legal this pair.

For those who are looking for some more activity, tell them that it is also possible to surf and enjoy the excitement of jet skis for about 100 soles for half an hour. You can also get information with local taxis to take you to other beaches that are in the surroundings. I did not go to see others because Máncora's was almost deserted and met the requirements of tranquility I was looking for.

Máncora also serves as a catapult for those who want to move to Ecuador or as a point of entry - on the right foot - to Peru for those who come from North to South.

The local people told me that in the high season months - December and January, Easter and from June to August - the place is full of nightlife and parties, so keep in mind who wants to spend a good march through the area.

Honestly, it seemed like a nice place and I recharged my energies but it was not even near the best beaches I saw in South America and I think that the fame that people give it is excessive.
