Views from one of the viewpoints of San Miguel de Allende

In the Mexican state of Guanajuato There is a small city that attracts a good number of visitors for its beautiful colonial architecture, its rich cuisine, hot springs and historical symbolism. This is the attractive cocktail that is presented to us in San Miguel de Allende, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2008. A couple of extras that give it personality are its canteens and the badenes, but this is something that I will discover later.

We arrived at what some qualify as the "prettiest city in Mexico", in our large van, which had to stop every few meters because of the presence of one of the many sidewalks that dot the narrow cobbled streets. If there were a classification of cities with the highest number of orders per square meter, without a doubt San Miguel would enter the podium.

Anyway, this encourages you to visit in the best possible way: on foot.

He historical Center makes us understand why it was chosen by the magazine Count Nast Traveler, in 2013, as The most beautiful city in the world. It is not only the beautiful colonial architecture, but how, without hardly altering it, they have managed to integrate beautiful restaurants, shops, bars and other leisure places that have attracted many foreigners to establish their residence in these highlands of temperate climate.

Some of the jewels that we can find and activities that we can do in San Miguel de Allende are:

Parish of San Miguel Arcángel

San Miguel Arcangel

It is the most emblematic architectural symbol of San Miguel de Allende. Initially erected in the 17th century, it was transformed between 1880 and 1890 by Zeferino Gutierrez, who set aside the original colonial style and rebuilt its facade inspired by the European cathedrals of the time. Although it seems that it can collide with the rest of the monuments of the city, in the end it is imposed on all the others.
