At the Ateljee Bar at Hotel Torni you have the best views of Helsinki

A Spaniard may have his face dislocated if you intend to charge him for using a bathroom. That is so even if in many bars of the homeland there are already posters on the door that warn that the bathroom is only for customers. But we always have the shopping centers right? That resource does not exist as often in other nations, especially in central and northern Europe, where sometimes you have to open the wallet before opening the WC door.

In the capital of Finland, where I have found some paid public toilets, I have also discovered what are undoubtedly the bathrooms with the best views of Helsinki. And also, dear compatriots, they are free.

To find them, you don't have to go far from the city center, since just 500 meters separate us from Kaivokatu and Rautatientori, the street and the square of the majestic Railway Station. The place to go on a pilgrimage is the Hotel Torni, in the design district of Helsinki, a majestic work that stands out on the city skyline.

When his controversy was finalized (he obtained the works license later) construction in 1931, its 14 floors and almost 70 meters high made it the tallest building in Helsinki and Finland. The Finns do not like to live in the human hives that are skyscrapers, because it took 45 years to beat the second record and 56 for the second.

The Hotel Torni (“Tower”), has been present in its own way at decisive moments in the History of Finland. During World War II, the hotel, which was "taken" by foreign correspondents and spies, served as an observation post and warning of air strikes by the female paramilitary organization Lotta Svärd. After the war and journalists, the strict Allied Control Commission (200 Soviets and 15 British) stayed at the hotel until the end of 1947.
